Personally, I would recommend the Platinum version, since the normal Movie Studio unfortunately does not contain any functions for color editing. However, it is sufficient in any case for the entry into video editing.

The Guided Video Creator
Movie Studio 16 now also has an automatic wizard that cuts videos for you. All you have to do is select video and music files and choose a title. The program will then edit a video for you with built-in transitions and effects. You can switch between the editing modes at any time.
Optimized views
There are several editing modes you can switch between for an optimal workflow. First, you choose between Easy Creation and Advanced Creation. Under “Easy Creation” you’ll find the Guided Video Editor, which cuts the video all by itself, and the “Easy editing modes” button. Here all the buttons that you don’t need disappear from the interface and the program limits itself to the essential functions for easy video editing, which is excellent for beginners.

Vegas Movie Studio is a video editing software for beginners who want to start editing video. The program is a slimmed-down version of Vegas Pro, so to speak, but contains enough functions for getting started and is also affordable.
As always, the program is available in three different versions: the normal version, the Platinum version and the Suite version. In the basic configuration the program costs 40€, the suite costs three times as much.
Surface
In the latest version of Vegas Movie Studio, the interface has been thoroughly reworked, so there are now several modes for both beginners and advanced users. For some the program is kept very simple, for others the variety of effects is in the foreground. Magix is trying to improve the usability as much as possible and I think this version is very well done.
On the one hand there is, as usual, the clearly arranged timeline in the lower half, which can be operated quite quickly. At the top right is the preview monitor and at the left the window where you can drag media, effects, titles or transitions into the Timeline.
New in the simple mode is the menu that you can see on the picture on the left.

Vegas Movie Studio is a video editing software for beginners who want to start with video editing. The program is a slimmed-down version of Vegas Pro, so to speak, but contains enough functions for getting started and is also affordable.

The Movie Studio is nothing more than a slimmed-down version of the famous professional program Vegas Pro. This can also be seen clearly on the surface, which hardly differs from the current Vegas Pro version.
However, the design of the interface was only slightly changed compared to the previous version.
On the one hand there is, as usual, the clearly arranged timeline in the lower half, which can be operated quite quickly. At the top right is the preview monitor and at the left the window where you can drag media, effects, titles or transitions into the Timeline.
Users of the Platinum or Suite version can now select the background color of the interface themselves.

At first glance, there is actually no significant difference at all. Only the files in the timeline got a new design (the same as with Vegas Pro).

As you can see, all products of the Vegas family look almost the same. This can be a big advantage if you want to switch from the beginner program to the professional video editing software.
The usability of the interface is really good. Even if the design is not quite as simple as with the Movavi Video Editor, you will quickly find your way around as a beginner.
In addition, Vegas offers users a “quick start” service. This includes a tutorial in which the most important functions are explained or you let the guide guide you through the program. If you take some time for the “quick start”, you can quickly familiarize yourself with the video editing program.
What do the three programs offer?

Another cool feature is the slideshow wizard. Simply select photos and transitions and the program will create a slideshow for you. It’s a great thing to be quick. But even cutting is of course much more fun.
In which points are the more expensive programs better?
For 40€ you get as a beginner a good video editing program with all important functions to start with the video editing. However, the two more expensive programs offer a few more things, which I will go into now.
Platinum & Suite
Starting with the Platinum version, various templates are included with which you can create menus and chapters for DVDs and Blu-rays. If you want to give away your video in the form of a DVD, a nice menu makes sense in any case.
In my opinion, the most important point that the normal version does without is the Color Corrector, with which you can optimize the colors of your video. With the right colors and saturations, a video looks much more vivid and real.
In addition, there are additional packages with video effects and filters for even more possibilities.
A nice feature, which unfortunately only includes the suite version, is the filtering of noise. Without wind noise or street noise, a video looks much more professional.
Multicam editing with up to four cameras, which is included from the platinum version onwards, also improves the cutting workflow.
Which version is the best?
For those who have never edited videos before and don’t need such a large range of functions, the standard version is certainly sufficient. However, the surface is not the easiest. If you only want to edit very simple videos and are looking for an easy-to-use interface, the Movavi Video Editor is probably better suited for you.
Nevertheless, the video editing program is ideal for beginners or advanced users who are looking for a simpler and cheaper alternative to Vegas Pro.
Personally, I would recommend the Platinum version in order not to have to do without color editing and also to create DVDs.
Who is the programme aimed at?
The manufacturer states that it is a video editing program for beginners. Even though the interface has been designed very well and there are numerous tutorials, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the program to someone who has never edited videos before and needs the program for a unique project.
But if you are motivated enough as a beginner to learn the program, the Movie Studio is definitely suitable for you. Moreover, it takes quite a long time until the program reaches its limits, so that even an advanced video editor can still get a lot out of his videos with the program.
Bottom line
I would recommend the Platinum version, because the normal Movie Studio doesn’t offer any color editing. You also need one of the more expensive versions for creating DVDs and Blu-rays.
All in all a good video editing program for beginners and advanced users.

VEGAS Movie Studio 14 offers the ideal introduction to the world of video editing. For 50-140€ you get a good video editing program with a lot of functions and effects, but it’s mainly for beginners. You can quickly familiarize yourself with the clear user interface. Especially the Vegas Movie Studio has an integrated music maker. In any case, I would recommend the Platinum or the Suit variant, as these have a lot more to offer, such as the creation of DVDs with navigation. If you want to change colors or create cinema looks manually, the Platinum version is also better suited. For absolute beginners the basic version is probably sufficient. The choice is yours.

Also Vegas Movie Studio 14 is available in three different versions, the basic version for 49,99€, the Platinum version for 60€ and the Suite Box for 139,99€. What’s the big difference? And which target group does this video editing program appeal to?

Vegas Movie Studio is a simple video editing program for getting started with video editing. There is a very user-friendly user interface, so that you can edit good videos quickly and without much previous knowledge. And also with this program there are many video and audio effects. Especially the integrated Music Maker is a great way to mix your own music for your video.
But there are some differences between the different programs, which I would like to discuss now.

Surface
The interface of the Vegas Movie Studio is quite clearly structured. Of course, you have to get used to it first, but that’s relatively quick. The interface reminds me a bit of Video deluxe, but all video editing programs look
somehow similar. First of all we see the big timeline at the bottom of the screenshot, into which you can drag and drop video and audio files. What I really like about the program is the Explorer button. If you press it, your own files appear in the upper left window as you know them. With Video deluxe the whole thing is not so clear if you are not working with two screens. At the top right there is again a preview monitor and below it the bar with the most important functions (as always).
Effects and fades
The video editing software contains a lot of fades and effects to make your videos even better. Even in Preview mode, the iris icons are animated, so you can easily imagine what the iris looks like at the end above the video. Once you have found a suitable one, simply drag it into the timeline on the video file that should receive the effect.
Movie Studio 14 – 3 Steps to the Perfect Video
The basic version of Vegas Movie Studio is probably the beginner’s program par excellence. It’s simple and you can cut good movies in no time at all. Of course, it does not offer the professionalism of other programs, but the variety of templates and effects is reasonable in price.
Import video footage
The video editing program supports most current formats. So you can easily insert the recorded video material into the Timeline by drag&drop from the menu or your own files.
Edit
There is a simple and self-explanatory operation. Anyone can cut up videos and create their first small films. Below the Timeline there is a bar with the most important controls. Videos can also be cut with DeepL accesses, which you learn over time, and moved with the mouse in the timeline. So you can arrange them differently and adjust the cuts to the beat.
Optimize
The last step is to optimize your video. A lot of video and audio effects, color corrections and transitions are at one’s disposal, with which one can professionally arrange his video. You can align the images of different scenes to get a better look. There are also many new modern titles. Optimizing the movie often takes the most time, if you do it in detail. Even if editing the video is more fun, it is worth investing a lot of time in post-production, because only then does a normal film become a masterpiece. There are heaps of effects and transitions that are all actually aimed at the same thing, namely combining two videos with a nice transition. Thanks to the huge selection you can make your movie very varied. Also the color correction should not be neglected, as it makes the film look professional. Of course, there are not as many possibilities for the color correction as with other, more expensive programs. But you can still create beautiful cinema looks.
Highlights
For those who are really new to video editing, the software offers program help and tutorials. While you’re working, the program explains how everything works – I would have wished for something like this with my first video editing program.
In addition, all Movie Studio 14 programs include the Music Maker, with which you can edit your music optimally.
Which of the three versions is the best?
The best version of Movie Studio is of course the Suite Box. It offers many more functions than the cheaper models, but costs more than twice as much.
I would definitely recommend the Platinum version, as for only 10€ more you get a much more comprehensive video editing package. Bidl stabilisation alone is an important function that is only included in the two more expensive versions. The Suite variant is not worthwhile in my eyes, because the price-performance ratio of the Platinumbox is much better.
